DIY Volcano! Swarovski Platform Pumps. I don’t know about you, but the glitter shoes I’ve seen don’t hold a candle to these - and granted these took about 40 hours and cost a lot more to make, but they are incredible! These are by griffinthecat at Craftster.org here. She also has a pair of equally stunning Swarovski crystal pumps at Craftster.org here. *There is no tutorial, but going through several pages of comments this is what I found out. I got the volcano rhinestones from Dreamtime Creations. (here).
I did place each rhinestone with tweezers. They aren’t sealed, because that would dull the rhinestones.  But I did use GemTac, a rhinestone glue, as my adhesive.  It’s pretty strong.
For these I used probably around 7000-7500 rhinestones.  I did the same shoe in a different color and it took 8000 rhinestones.  I did use slightly larger rhinestones on the volcanos, they they took slightly less.

question: Is the color gradation caused naturally by the volcano crystals and the light or did you have to place them to get that effect?
answer: The volcano rhinestones are special effect rhinestones.  So depending on the light angle, they are purple, pink, orange, yellow, lime or clear.  So, in short, it’s the rhinestones, but an ombre effect would be awesome!
