DIY Shrunken Heads in Cider. Tutorial and Video from Martha Stewart here. This is much easier than it looks. You dry the carved apples in a 250 degree oven for 90 min., speed up drying process. What’s interesting is that these apple heads were made into dolls in my area in the late 1700s and 1800s - scary old looking people dolls, but doll nevertheless! Now they are expensive folk art.
