Suggestions needed for restyling White Polyester/Cotton Blend School Shirts
Hi, I’m 16 and and I’m leaving school in a few weeks, which means no more uniform! :) However, this does mean I am left with a lot of old white school shirts, some of which are a bit worse for wear, or do not fit anymore. Do you have any advice for what to do with them? Re-styles would be best, as I’m going to Sixth Form soon, so I’m gonna need some new clothes. Thanks !More Info: And these shirts are 65% polyester, 35% cotton according to the lable.
- grayoliv added: Got a picture? (truebluemeandyou: if you do I can post it and give everyone a better idea of what you are restyling)
- broadstrokesmt added: Cross-stitch and embroidery. Visit subversivecrossstitch.com and sublimestitching.com for how-tos.
- littleemptyroses answered: lace trim or appliques are a super easy fix for worn spots or stained areas, and lace trim could also spiff up collar and cuffs easily.
- thingsbysophie answered: you can get poly-mix dyes online that work pretty well!
- blazingeyes answered: You could try silk screening, or using fabric pen to add some patterns. Cut it to a muscle tank kinda thing?
- therewolf answered: I had the same problem! iDye make cotton dyes and polyester dyes though, so you can combine the same colour in each kind if you want to dye!

- frostedsnowfall answered: you can maybe stud them
- vaxtorino answered: Rit dye will work, it’ll just be a lot lighter since the fabric is a blend. Anything that’s beyond redemption can be used to make a rag rug
- lysmdesign answered: too small: lace trim (trueblue’S archive) and refitting/restyling my favourite DIYs are from wobisobi.blogspot.com (many ideas there!!)
- annabelle-rose answered: Turn it into a tank cottonandcurls.com/2012/06/mens-button-up-to-summery-flowy-tank-top-tutorial… or add collar embellishments :)
- amandatriplet answered: I would buy some black fabric, then cut a shirt in half (horizontally) and put the black fabric the midddle making a shirt-dress.
- gloriouslychic answered: galaxy with fabric paint! i’ve got a great galaxy diy: gloriouslychic.blogspot.com/2013/05/diy-galaxy
