And let’s be real here, if you craft you know exactly what I mean by “homemade ugly”. These crafts are some of the ones that when you rethink/rework them turn out to be the best or worst work. I think that whatever you do that is “new to you”, pushes you outside your comfort zone, opens your mind etc… will translate into all aspects of your life - at least they have in mine. This post stems from a critique I read about Craft Wars on TLC by The New Yorker I found on Mark Montano’s FB site. The New Yorker article was titiled: Don’t Put a Bird On It: Saving “Craft” from Cuteness. While I don’t love the show I think an important point was missed in the article that lots of people (like many of my friends) don’t think they are creative at all and from personal experience I have found when they succeeded at a little craft project they went on to more ambitious projects and discovered an entirely new side to themselves.
