DIY $10 Hula Hoop Hanging Light Tutorial from Emily Henderson here. This is part of her $.99 DIYs series (the hula hoops were $.99 a piece) and all her tutorials are easy to understand and funny to read. This is not a high end looking piece - but it only costs around $10! What Emily wrote:
Let me be clear, this is not meant to be something super high end looking - its more like a cheap and fun piece. It would be great for a loft party. Or so fun for a kids room. You could paint it white for something more modern, or paint it black if you are goth…or just into black. Or obviously you could stripe them, glitter them, dip dye them….endless possibilities.
DIY White Lights Shabby Chic Chandelier Tutorial from Boat People here. This is one of those projects that could look really good or someone trying to make it could end up on pinstrosity. This is a really cheap and easy project to do (but please get the cool LED white lights!). GIF by me using my favorite easy gif maker: picasion.com.
DIY Mini Marquee Lights Tutorial and Free Template from Oh Happy Day here. *I haven’t posted the giant ones before because I thought the bulbs were too hard to get and expensive. These I could afford and do. Cute GIF but it won’t work because GIFs on Tumblr have to be under a certain width.
truebluemeandyou: DIY Glow Clouds Urban Myth. This photo and “tutorial” was just posted again on a huge blog but taken down after I posted the original link. They did list a tutorial here that copies this look.
EDIT: Alexis Mire on Flickr wrote, “so, I almost set my house on fire for this”. It may be doable, but not by the sites who are using this photo with instructions to something they never really made… otherwise they would have photographed their own finished projects and not used Ms. Mire’s flammable cloud photo (with NO LINK).
DIY House Lantern Tutorial from Hutch Studio here. First seen at Dishfunctional Designs here. I made the Gif using an online program. Take a photo of your house, apartment building, condo etc… and make it personal. You can only use battery operated tea lights with these. I posted something similar here: a DIY 3D European City by Night here.
DIY Hardware Store Tin Punched Lampshade Tutorial from Dream a Little Bigger here. This uses tin flashing you can get at any hardware store. This reminds me of the DIY City Skyline Pierced Lampshade Video Tutorial I posted from Thread Banger here.
