DIY Plastic Mat Gauntlent Lace Up Bracelet Tutorial from Anna Evers for Las Manualidades here. I know this has already been posted on Tumblr here, but I think a real discussion has to continue about the use of the term “slave bracelet”. I’ve mentioned it before when panjas/handpieces have been called “slave bracelets” and cuffs have been called “slave cuffs” and how distasteful and inappropriate I think it is. What do I do? I leave a message at the site asking if there is a better name for that piece of jewelry or I message the person on Facebook in private. Tip: spray painting plastic does not often turn out well when the plastic is bent.
DIY Hardware Bling Ring Tutorial from Greenie Dresses for Less here. She used a piece of hardware for the ring and base and then a crystal from a bridal store. I love hardware jewelry and to find more hardware DIYs go here: truebluemeandyou.tumblr.com/tagged/hardware
DIY Washer and Ribbon Necklace Tutorial from Maiko Nagao here. This is based on Anni Albers’ iconic hardware jewelry I posted about here and Maiko Nagao saw my post and changed her post to credit Anni Albers. (although Maiko Nagao never mentions Anni Albers as influencing her necklace design), I’m not fond of this neon ribbon color but the tutorial is good. Top Photo: DIY by Maiko Nagao. Bottom Left Photo: Lovely color ribbon Anni Albers Necklace Tutorial I posted from The Small Object here. Middle Bottom Photo: Anni Albers and Alex Reed, Neck piece, ca. 1940 Washers and grosgrain ribbon I posted here. Right Bottom Photo: Excellent tutorial I posted from Craftster here.
