dreaminoncloudnine asked: Hey there! I was wondering if you would know any cheap alternatives to fabric paint? Or DIY fabric paint tutorials? I wanted white paint to make polka dotted jeans. Would oil paint work? Or acrylic?
I would use fabric paint. It will be cheaper and easier in the long run and you only need to buy one color. If you go to my Tumblr Blog home page you will see various categories that have dozens of fabric paint tutorials. But a good place to start is inspiration & realisation’s really good paint review here: www.inspirationrealisation.com/2011/06/fabric-paints-review.html Also, I have lots of DIY polka dot pants here: truebluemeandyou.tumblr.com/tagged/polka-dot-jeans

DIY Easy Painted Floral Purse Tutorial from Studs and Pearls here. I really like this tutorial because Kirsten used a technique she found used for icing cookies with floral patterns and adapted it using a square brush and fabric paint. You could also use these flowers on notebooks, clothing etc…

DIY Gilded Camo Jacket Tutorial from Wobisobi here. I’m seeing camoflage patterns on all the fashion blogs, but this is the first DIY I’ve seen where some of the pattern is picked out and painted gold. I really love this idea, and the stenciled angel wings on the pocket.

DIY Bleached and Doodle Shorts Tutorial from Dare to DIY here. Summer is almost over (I will not miss not the scorching temperatures), but I can think of lots of uses for this on cheap canvas bags, cheap cotton tees (sometimes on sale at Michaels for $2), etc… *You can buy cheap doodle books online here (no affiliate link), find doodles online or get books from your library.
