subkultur3 asked: Favorite DIY blogs (top 5) ????

EDIT: This list is so out of date by now. I follow about 400 blogs on Bloglovin and lots of my favorite Tumblr sites are gone or the bloggers rarely post.

On Tumblr off of the top of my head - so I am missing some of my favorites - I’m sure!

holly-go-brightly no longer active

dizzymaiden

crochetclouds

rockspapermetal for jewelry (Not DIY - but really really inspirational)

Off of Tumblr - more than 5 - but I follow a ton of blogs on bloglovin’ so this list is constantly changing depending on the projects being posted. Also, I follow certain blogs for specific things like resin crafts, fashion, inspiration, knitting etc…

Wobisobi for clothing restyles and simple jewelry

DIY Mirrored Collar Using CDs and DVDs.

qmoab reblogged your photo: DIY Mirrored Collar Using CDs. Love this tutorial…

looks awesome. but seems like it would be pokey.

Yes it could be. if you follow my blog I always say there is a fine line between “ugly handmade” and “awesome how did you do that handmade?!”. But I try to avoid some of this by posting from sites that have other amazing tutorials that came out well for me or they’ve posted other really great projects. That’s why I reblog tutorials from certain people (who make what they are posting about) like crochetclouds on Tumblr  (with her own amazing website here). Thanks, I Made It and wobisobi here. There are lots of others who have reliably good posts that I know will come out how they look on the internet.

Over at Crafterminds they have a series of articles about craft blogging: Blogger Confessions, Volume 1 here, Don’t Believe Everything You Pin here and finally Media is Not Real. Period. here. These articles are kind of shocking to those who think every craft turns out like the photo on someone’s blog - but these articles are also the reason why I go back to certain blogs time and time again and have dropped others.

Have seen this shredding technique show up in super expensive scarves, jewelry etc… for F/W 2011. Like the video that goes with it.
