DIY Beeswax Sushi Candle Tutorial from Smori at Instructables. I have used beeswax sheets many times with kids. They are extremely easy to handle and roll up with the wick in the middle. This would be such a good gift with chopsticks and maybe takeout boxes (you can find these at the Dollar Store in giftwrap and bridal).
DIY Ideas for What to do with Newspaper Clippings. I just received a message from ivyink asking me, “I started collecting interesting newspaper scraps, sometimes even whole pages - and wondered whether you have any fancy ideas what to do with them/ how to store them? Pretty scrapbook ideas maybe?”
My Answer: If you’d like to save the clippings store them in archival sheets - really cheap if bought in bulk from Costco - but here’s a link for Amazon here and here (although the prices seem quite high compared to Costco). For those interested in archival preservation the Smithsonian has a good post here.
- Book Pages to Fabric Using Silicone Tutorial from Design Sponge. You could probably use this for newspaper if you were careful.
- Scrapbook from Newspaper Clippings from Carla Wiechers. This looks like it could be art.
- Collaged Newspaper Wall At from Crafted Love.
- Beeswax Coated Paper from Crafting a Green World.
truebluemeandyou: DIY Paper to Fabric. I’ve been seeing a lot of artistic paper dresses, waterproofed journals etc… I even posted Buy or DIY waterproof origami pendants here. This is so much easier and cheaper than using beeswax.
DIY Book Pages to Fabric Tutorial from Design Sponge here. This is supposed to feel more like oilcloth that you can sew on. Really easy DIY using silicone to coat the pages. This reminds me of my post on dipping paper in beeswax to waterproof and preserve it (also think glitter paper ornaments, antiquing paper etc…) here.
