truebluemeandyou: Roundup of Plastic Toy Tutorials. I’ve posted lots more since this roundup and you can see the added jewelry, fashion etc… here.
DIY Plastic Toys Tutorials. I’ve loved all the DIYs that I’ve seen and posted using either Dollar Store animals or old toys. Here are some of my favorites:
DIY Knockoff of the Anthropologie Party Animal Necklace here.
DIY Kentucky Derby Minaudiere or Clutch. If you have a snap shut sunglasses case, this is probably one of the cheapest crafts I’ve posted. And of course there is a plastic horse involved because I love altering cheap plastic animals here. Tutorial from Trinkets in Bloom here. *One image download
DIY Rat Fleece Hammock or for Other Small Animals. I had rats as pets (and they were great pets) and had them in a ferret cage with a plastic material hammock that you couldn’t wash so this would have been ideal. Tutorial from craft nectar here.
This will save people with small animals a lot of money. I know this from personal experience :)
DIY Raised Dog Bowls for the Pampered Pet. Using candlesticks. We’ve all seen the The Dollar Store glass candlestick glued to various things like mason jars, plates, etc… but this is inspired. She used thrifted heavy candlesticks to anchor the dog bowls. Tutorial at Urbane Jane here. Found at Crafting Rebellion here.
DIY Magical Three in One Cat Bed. I have three Maine Coon Cats and so when I saw this cat bed that my cats would actually use (especially the cave version), I emailed Haley of The Zen of Making to ask if I could post her creation. The bed is made out of craft felt and is extremely doable with a simple pattern and really clear good instructions. Tutorial by The Zen of Making here.
DIY Plastic Animal Ring Holder. More plastic animal tutorials (and I am obsessed with plastic toys. See here)! Love how Emi made these (no spray paint), also like the the practical bulletin board version. Tutorial from Small Good Things here.
DIY Felt and Pincushion Plastic Animals. People who follow my blog know I love altering plastic toys and animals (see here), so when I saw these tutorials from Small Good Things I just smiled. Pincushion Alpaca tutorial here, Bambi with a Pom Pom Felt Scarf and Felted Sheep tutorial here.
DIY Cat Catnip Toys. I bought large quantities of organic catnip on Amazon a few years ago for like $4 for a huge tub of it. My Maine Coon Cats love catnip - your cat may or may not like it - it is genetic whether a cat reacts to it or not (we were also told not to leave them around it too long because it’s like a drug and our 20 lb cats get aggressive and territorial when around it). Easy tutorial from sew4home here.
truebluemeandyou: DIY Gold Patterned Animals. Love these so much.
DIY Gold Patterned Animals. Plastic Animals - my favorite things (see all my posts on altering plastic animals here). Tutorial at heodeza here. *Really great photos of this project at the link.

Animal Rings. Not a DIY, but I love these. From an Instagram Photo by Studiobomba here. Has anyone seen these before?
I found them. AT RAW SPACE HERE.
DIY Mounted Toy Animal Heads. But did they have to decapitate my beloved unicorn? Another clever idea for using cheap dollar store/Target plastic animals. Tutorial from Please Note here. Would this scare or disturb your children or you?

DIY Valentine Plastic Animals with Messages. How could I have missed this for Valentines Day with my obsession for plastic toys (see my posts here)? Place any sweet or passive aggressive note you want in the mouth of a plastic animal. I posted a tutorial from Family Chic here that is almost identical, but how cute are these messages from Please Note?
DIY Jackalope. Why? Because we can. Tutorial at Eva Foreva here. *I have posted a ton of plastic toy tutorials/ideas because I love the idea of turning one really cheap thing into something totally different: http://truebluemeandyou.tumblr.com/tagged/plastic-toys
The purpose of my blog has become to catalog unique crafts that I truly love and would do myself. I love the look of handmade crafts - handmade in a good way. My crafts tend to be doable and inexpensive - because I have either done them myself or intend on doing them. "Doable" doesn't mean "simple" crafts, but rather crafts that have tutorials that are clear and easy to understand. *I will never copy an entire tutorial from any blogger because that takes away page views from their site and 99.99% of the time it violates their copyright policy. I also will not reblog a post if the entire tutorial is published without the permission of the original blogger. I will cite, if known, sources for my posts because I believe in giving credit to the photographer/designer/blogger. Also, to act like something is your own idea, when it isn't, is just wrong.
