DIY Altoids Tin Survival Kit. This is what I would want as a gift - the idiot proof version (esp fire making category). There are several versions of this kit at Field & Stream’s website and I like these ones so much better than the ones I’ve seen at Instructables (this is Field & Stream!). There are specific recommendations, links to where to buy the stuff etc… To save you time look at the first slide here and then skip to the last slide “Make Your Own: Three Steps to a Life-Saving Kit” here, then go through the slideshow of options. *A lightweight survival blanket is also a must. All the comments and this tutorial really made me think… must ask my brother who fishes in the wild all the time if he has something like this.

DIY Mini Mouse Sleeping in an Altoids’ Tin. I’m posting cute kids’ crafts when I see them. I also post a lot of altered Altoid tin crafts because they make lovely, personal, and small gifts. More photos so you can see how this is put together at mmmCrafts here. *Love how the blue tin matches the mini blanket.

Hey Raif, check out this DIY sand garden made out of an old Altoid tin.  It’s time to get crafty.

Love this tutorial. Another great gift idea.

DIY Tin Letterpress Clock Using Altoids Tin. Tutorial from Design Sponge here. What do I love about this tutorial? This is what I call a “big bang for your buck” craft (my favorite). I mean $5 (or $3 if using coupons) for the clock kit and some other stuff for a great gift! Design Sponge suggests sticking magnets on the back to put it on your fridge. Sweet.
