pearls-and-pinkroses asked: Hi! I love your blog and honestly the only thing I do when I'm on Tumblr is looking for DIY's. I just got this vintage white silk blouse and I love it because of it's texture. The only problem is that the design is horrible. Do you have any DIY's for a refashion of a silk blouse? Thanks! :)
Hi, I asked Donatella over at inspiration & realisation (my go-to sewing, fashion person) how she would answer your blouse question. This is what she answered:
For the silk blouse, it really comes up at the sewing skills of the person: if she knows what to do, I would take all the pieces of the blouse apart, and using the pieces as fabric, and use a pattern that I like, or making a pattern from a blouse I like, and go from there.Another idea is to use the pieces that are ok into another blouse (like for example: sewing the silk sleeves onto a cotton button down shirt to which I would take the sleeves off), and then make a pocket on the side with the silk, changing the collar as well.
I really like the idea of combining textures and have seen a lot of shirts/coats with replaced sleeves of different material ie denim jackets with leather sleeves, etc…
